Toronto City Gossip has Some Kind Words About Us
Alex Payne of Toronto City Gossip had a great time at our show at The Magpie, and gave us a fantastic write-up. It's always nice to hear that someone thinks Jay has "insane piano skills" or that Paul "plays violin like a champ." Check it out here. Thanks Alex!

Birthday Week - What a Blast!
As this weekend comes to a close, so does the Long Range Hustle birthday week, in which Josh, Kyle, and myself all have birthdays in the span of 4 days. To celebrate, we played a pair of intimate unplugged sets!
Firstly, we played Maxwell's Music House in Waterloo on Wednesday. We were joined by the incredibly talented Chantal Warren-Grybas on cello. It was our first show in almost half a year, but the rust fell off quickly. We made some great new friends in Birch and Grand Format, who both played some great tunes. It was a treat to play at Maxwell's one last time before it moves to it's new location. That little room behind quiznos has been a mainstay for us throughout our time as a band, and we'll be sad to see it go. That being said, we're even more excited for the new version of Maxwell's!

Friday saw us playing at The Magpie in TO. We were joined by Travis Caine and Kara Gauthier of Navy Skies, who played some of our favourite Skies songs as an acoustic duo. The Magpie is a pretty cozy space, but there was room enough for some dancing during an impromptu cover of Wagon Wheel. It's always encouraging when people want to get up and move while you're playing.
We want to thank all of our friends, fans, and supporters for joining us this week. We love you all!

Adventures in Film / WN Remixes
This past weekend, a few of us got the opportunity to flex our acting muscles. We went, along with our fearless manager Aven Hoffarth, to Toronto in order to film some promotional videos. We don't have much experience in front of the camera, but despite our novice pedigree the shoot went swimmingly.
Things we learned: acting is way harder than people think. We were constantly drenched in sweat, which resulted in us needing frequent "de-shining" appointments (i.e. rubbing our faces with paper-towels). Also, acting is probably one of the most fun things you could do. We may release some blooper footage at some point that shows just how hard we were laughing at all times.
We had a number of people help us out in a big way. First and foremost, Joe Swallow helped us organize the shoot, let us take over his apartment for the weekend, and was just generally a badass dude. We also had vital contributions from Eddie Majnemer, Matt Palermo, and Sandy James, in the form of camera operators, audio recorders, and all around fantastic-ness. Plus we had the world's greatest boom-mic operator - LRH alumni Mr. Mike Duboff!
The videos will be posted over the course of the summer, hopefully soon! Stay tuned!
If you're into electronic or industrial music, you might want to check out Kyle's solo project Wolverton Nash. He just released a 4-song EP titled "Through This EP." It features songs from his first album "Boy," remixed in an electronic style. It sounds very cool, and is a unique take on some already great tunes. Plus, at only $5, it's a steal!

Les Habitants! On y va!
After some careful consideration, I've come to the conclusion that Habs fans are some of the most manic-depressive fans in all of sports. After the untimely injury of Carey Price, so many of us started talking about being swept by New York. Now, after a nail-biting win in overtime of game 3, there's once again talk of planning the Stanley Cup parade.
And while they're still down 2-1, I think some of the optimism is justified. Tokarski may not be Price, but he's doing a pretty good imitation (e.g. his brilliant stop vs. Marty). Therrien's decision to start the young rookie in net was met by a lot of criticism, but once again he's proven himself to be a skilled tactician. If Dusty can maintain the level of play he showed in game 3, the Habs have a real fighting chance against the Rags.
While I think it's obvious now that starting Tokarski was the right move, it's still hard not to feel for Peter Budaj. Being passed over in a clutch situation is never easy. That being said, he is the epitome of a team player. Here he is with Tokarski after game 3, with no ill will and doing everything he can to help support the kid between the pipes. As much as I hate the C-word, that's pure class.
So maybe it's a little (or a lot) to early too talk about the cup, but let's not pretend we're out of this series yet. Go Habs Go!
