Adventures in Film / WN Remixes

This past weekend, a few of us got the opportunity to flex our acting muscles. We went, along with our fearless manager Aven Hoffarth, to Toronto in order to film some promotional videos. We don't have much experience in front of the camera, but despite our novice pedigree the shoot went swimmingly.
Things we learned: acting is way harder than people think. We were constantly drenched in sweat, which resulted in us needing frequent "de-shining" appointments (i.e. rubbing our faces with paper-towels). Also, acting is probably one of the most fun things you could do. We may release some blooper footage at some point that shows just how hard we were laughing at all times.
We had a number of people help us out in a big way. First and foremost, Joe Swallow helped us organize the shoot, let us take over his apartment for the weekend, and was just generally a badass dude. We also had vital contributions from Eddie Majnemer, Matt Palermo, and Sandy James, in the form of camera operators, audio recorders, and all around fantastic-ness. Plus we had the world's greatest boom-mic operator - LRH alumni Mr. Mike Duboff!
The videos will be posted over the course of the summer, hopefully soon! Stay tuned!

If you're into electronic or industrial music, you might want to check out Kyle's solo project Wolverton Nash. He just released a 4-song EP titled "Through This EP." It features songs from his first album "Boy," remixed in an electronic style. It sounds very cool, and is a unique take on some already great tunes. Plus, at only $5, it's a steal!

Les Habitants! On y va!

After some careful consideration, I've come to the conclusion that Habs fans are some of the most manic-depressive fans in all of sports. After the untimely injury of Carey Price, so many of us started talking about being swept by New York. Now, after a nail-biting win in overtime of game 3, there's once again talk of planning the Stanley Cup parade.

And while they're still down 2-1, I think some of the optimism is justified. Tokarski may not be Price, but he's doing a pretty good imitation (e.g. his brilliant stop vs. Marty). Therrien's decision to start the young rookie in net was met by a lot of criticism, but once again he's proven himself to be a skilled tactician. If Dusty can maintain the level of play he showed in game 3, the Habs have a real fighting chance against the Rags.

While I think it's obvious now that starting Tokarski was the right move, it's still hard not to feel for Peter Budaj. Being passed over in a clutch situation is never easy. That being said, he is the epitome of a team player. Here he is with Tokarski after game 3, with no ill will and doing everything he can to help support the kid between the pipes. As much as I hate the C-word, that's pure class.

So maybe it's a little (or a lot) to early too talk about the cup, but let's not pretend we're out of this series yet. Go Habs Go!

Welcome lovely people!

Hey there reader! Welcome to the new Long Range Hustle website. Feel free to take a look around. We've got all the goodies - news, shows, pics, videos, and a place for us to rant about whatever pops into our brains. This is going to be the new HQ for all things LRH.

This page is titled news, so let's talk about news! We've got two new shows (and three birthdays!) to announce. The first is at Maxwell's Music House in Waterloo on June 18th. It's the last week that Maxwell's will be open, so it's a big one for sure. AND it is Kyle's birthday, so we'll be extra pumped up for him! Next we're playing The Magpie Taproom in Toronto on June 20th. The 20th is the midpoint between Paul and Josh's birthdays (the 19th and 21st respectively). It's pretty crazy that we've got 3 band birthdays in the span of 4 days. So come celebrate all our birthdays with us!

An update on the album: our venerable producer Mr. Ryan Pritchard is in the midst of editing the 70GB of raw audio from our recording sessions at Escarpment Sound Studio. Once all the editing is done, we'll be heading back to Escarpment to start mixing. There'll be lots more news about the new album in the coming weeks.

That's about all for now. Thanks for stopping by!
